Pro Social Media Monitoring: How Wieden+Kennedy uses PositivePress
Wieden + Kennedy is one of the largest ad agencies in the world and they’re using PositivePress to track their campaigns. I’ll show you how they use it and how you can use it the same way to track your brand, product, or campaign online.

We had a chance to sit down with the awesome Amber Case a few days ago and talk with her about how she’s using PositivePress at Wieden + Kennedy.

Wieden + Kennedy is one of the largest independently owned advertising agencies in the world. They’ve worked with large clients like Nike, Coke, ESPN, and Levi’s to name a few. And they’re headquartered in Iterasi’s neighborhood in Portland, OR.

But W+K’s use of PositivePress goes beyond a friendly local handshake, and into a powerful solution for their PR teams.

A Cumbersome Workflow Transformed

One of Amber Case’s many jobs at W+K is to keep the internal teams updated about what press the campaigns are getting. This used to mean spending time searching through the internet, wading through what is and isn’t relevant, somehow saving webpages (either bookmarking or copying and pasting into a spreadsheet), sometimes taking screen shots and creating a PDF of the website… Obviously a very cumbersome and time consuming process to keep the teams informed.

And the problem magnifies when you add up the hours of others W+K employees doing the same redundant searching, copying, pasting, etc.

So, when Amber found out about PositivePress she was immediately wondering what impact it might have on this cumbersome workflow.

Saving Time, Like No Other Tool

Amber has been using PositivePress for her teams at W+K for only a few months and she sees a huge difference; sometimes saving several hours a day!

“…Wieden+Kennedy started using PositivePress, and since then, it has become a central player in Wieden+Kennedy’s PR department. Client teams love the ease with which buzz can be rolled up into a report. PositivePress has saved Wieden+Kennedy’s employees many hours of copying and pasting, and it also allows account planners to track campaign buzz on a daily basis.”

One-Time Setup

It only takes Amber a few minutes to setup her topics in PositivePress. She creates her topics and just like that PositivePress starts scouring the web and capturing results.

Sometimes she’ll do a little RSS magic in Yahoo Pipes and then bring those results into PositivePress using the custom feeds. (It should be said that Amber is a full-on tech wizard. You can find out more about her on her Marketing & Events Blog)

Easy Does It Reporting

Once PositivePress has started capturing results about the campaigns, Amber browses through them for relevant articles. If she finds something important, she’ll send it in a report to her team. Sometimes she simply selects the latest articles from the last day or so and sends them all in a report.

PositivePress: W+K’s One-Stop Solution

With PositivePress it’s easier than ever to collect all the information about their campaigns in one place. And the simple reporting functionality completely erases the need to copy, paste, screen grab, PDF, etc. And since the links in the report all point to archived items, she never has to worry about a link being broken, or important information being lost.

PositivePress has cut through Amber’s old, time consuming workflow and overhauled her productivity. It’s the only social media monitoring and brand tracking application that focuses on preserving online content through archiving. And our focus on making the reporting functionality best in class has paid off significantly for Wieden+Kennedy.
