Why Every Journalist and Blogger In The World Should Have iterasi

If the Associated Press (AP) had been using iterasi, they may just have had the story of the Olympics, providing more proof that the Chinese had faked a girl’s age so she could compete in the games. With He Kexin’s spectacular performance, the Chinese women’s gymnast team won the gold medal in competition earlier this week.

The AP discovered a story from a Chinese news agency about He Kexin and her athletic abilities. The story stated the girl is 13. The AP apparently “saved” the page but later could not find it on the Chinese news agency web site. The page was no longer accessible. Xinhua, the state run news agency, had taken down the story.

From the AP:

The Associated Press found the Xinhua report on the site Thursday morning and saved a copy of the page. Later that afternoon, the Web site was still working but the page was no longer accessible. Sports editors at the state-run news agency would not comment for publication.

With iterasi, the journalists could have immediately saved an exact copy of the page from the Xinhua site. They would have had a permanent copy of the story in their account. It would have provided the AP with an exact snapshot of the story. It would have proven without a doubt that there had been reports by the Chinese last November that the girl was 13-years-old.

Wow. That could have been one of the biggest stories of the Olympics games.

This is the kind of value that iterasi can provide any blogger or journalist. It gives journalists everywhere the ability to archive web pages that could prove to be an important part of huge stories that have international repercussions. Web pages are always being taken down before a blogger or a journalist can make a copy of it.

Bloggers are covering politics, sports, tech and any number of other categories. They are always looking for an angle, something that will get their story further distributed and an increased exposure. iterasi is a tool that can give bloggers a real edge.

iterasi is available to download as an add-on to your browser by registering at the web site. The service is free. Our Mac version is expected very soon. :-)

That’s an awesome example, guys. I’ve been using Iterasi intermittently, but I obviously need to step up my game so I don’t miss a story.

Great! Thanks! It’s very handy to have around when you see something unusual on a web site. You can immediately archive that page.
