Its name means “train dining car” and the railway theme starts out front, with a converted train car serving as a bar. The house is well decorated with a miniature train running through a Swiss village inside a glass showcase. FOOD The original Rosabieng near Samsen train station is known for good food made for a local clientele. This sister restaurant is a few notches up the scale in terms of atmosphere and presentation but the food is equally authentic. The menu offers a mix of fine dining and home-cooked fare dressed up for special occasions. A good example is tom yum nuea toon; braised beef commonly eaten with noodles is spiced up with local herbs and lime juice to make a fragrant and flavourful soup that is good to the last spoonful and a good alternative to the better-known tom yum kung. Crab curry, made with crab meat, strikes the right combination of creaminess and spiciness – a real winner. Salad of wing beans with prawns offers beans cooked till just right, the prawns fresh and plentiful and the dressing richly flavoured but not too spicy. The dessert menu offers fruit-flavoured ice cream, good crepes and traditional iced desserts.. WINES A small selection of moderately priced reds and whites from France and Chile. Local and imported beers are available along with a variety of fruit juices. SERVICE Good and reasonably fast service by staff who knows when to step in and when to leave diners to their conversation. PRICE Very good value for the quality.
